About Our Founder
 
Andy Castiñeiras is the Founder and President of ACCESS Consulting.  Andy formed the company after a 20 year career that included stints in virtually every phase of the software development life-cycle.  He has a total of over 25 years of practical experience working with computers and programming software.

Mr. Castiñeiras came to ACCESS Consulting from R Systems, Inc., an INC 500 pre-IPO Information Technology provider. As the Northeast Regional Director, Andy was responsible for establishing their first office presence on the East Coast of the United States.  While in this position, he concentrated on selling software development projects and software staff consulting services for eBusiness and Internet related technology in a number of industry verticals including Telecomm, Pharmaceutical, Reatil and Education.  Andy was also an active member of the company’s Operations Committee where he made contributions to the company’s compensation plans and performance management processes.

Currently, in addition to his duties at ACCESS Consulting, Andy is a Business Analysis and Project Management consultant for the Global Information Services group of the Estee Lauder Companies in Melville, NY.  Andy is a Lead Analyst on major capital projects for the Concept to Market Systems (C2M) organization; his duties include vendor selection, business case development, functional specifications, operations liaison and deployment project management.

Prior to his time at R Systems, Andy spent over 12 years at Lucent Technologies / Bell Laboratories in a variety of management positions.  While at Bell Laboratories he helped set the technical and market strategy on several System and Network Management products, including Lucent’s very successful Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) Network Management software product line.

As a member of Lucent’s Communications Software Group, a top ten software firm if taken as a separate company, Andy was responsible for implementation of some of their largest Integrated Software Systems offerings.  His responsibilities included cross-product Systems Engineering, development of Integrated Systems Architectures and Project Management of projects in Europe, Central and South America.

In July 1994, Andy was promoted to the position of Technical Manager in Bell Labs as a result of his efforts.  His group went on to manage a series of large software projects in Europe and Mexico totaling over $45M in revenue over a four year period.  All of these projects were completed on time and at or under budget.  Andy was responsible for the entire project life cycle from requirements generation, pre-sales technical support, to proposal preparation and pricing and project management of the entire development and implementation.

In late 1998, Andy joined Lucent's Optical Networking Group (ONG) as Senior Manager of the Project Management Organization (PMO).  While there he led projects critical to the business success of ONG, including a security audit project meant to ensure proper safeguarding of ONG intellectual property and other resources.  He also contributed leadership for projects aimed at reducing Customer Delivery Intervals (CDI) and to improve internal performance management processes, among many others.

Andy earned a Mini-MBA Certification in International Business, sponsored by the George Washington University, in 1993.  He also holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, where he attended as a TRW Fellow; and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Polytechnic Institute of NYU in Brooklyn, NY. 
 
Andy has been published in various IEEE conference journals and Applied Optics magazine.  Among other awards, Andy is a three time recipient of the “Who’s Who in American College and Universities” award, a member of the “Brooklyn Hall of Fame”, and has been sited by NASA for his outstanding support of the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment.  Andy was also a New York City Teaching Fellow, serving as a Teacher of Science and Technology in the New York City School system.
